Destination Information

Los Urrutias is a small town situated on the shores of the Mar Menor between Los Alcazares and Los Nietos. It is perhaps best known as the Headquarters of the Mar Menor Regatta Club as the calm waters offer perfect sailing conditions for those who enjoy this popular sport. Waterskiing, kayaking, windsurfing, swimming and scuba diving can all be enjoyed here too. Los Urrutias enjoys some of the best beaches in the area with both the Mediterranean Sea and the calm lagoon of Mar Menor within easy reach.

Although it is a relatively new town compared to nearby historic Cartagena, Los Urrutias has an air of tradition in its charming Spanish architecture which lines the streets. There are several cafés, bars and shops in the town offering everything from boat hire to shopping. It also has a number of excellent local restaurants, a church, supermarkets and a marina, catering to all visitors’ needs.

The hill of El Carmioli offers a pleasant walk and gives excellent views of the area including the blue lagoon waters of Mar Menor. Keen hikers and mountain bikers will also find plenty of trails to explore in this region.

Golfers are well catered for with the three golf courses at La Manga just a short drive away as well as the golf courses at Roda, Polaris World and La Serena.
