The Mar Menor is connected to the Mediterranean by four channels, which prevent the lagoon from drying out through evaporation. The largest channel, El Estacio is the only navigable waterway for boats wishing to visit both seas. The Tomas Maestre marina, with over 1000 moorings, restaurants and shops is situated adjacent to this channel. Boat trips, Charters and watersports are available from the many marinas surrounding the Mar Menor and also on the Mediterranean coast.
